I have laid laminate flooring on carpet underlay on suspended floorboards. Why does the underlay get wet?

Hi you should not lay laminate flooring on carpet underlay as there is to much give and your be bouncing all over the place as for wet underlay ? Some rubber underlay becomes greasy on the top due to the oil in the rubber
Or you have a leak
Definitely undo it all and find out the cause it’s always better to double check

You should never put laminate on carpet underlay no matter where you are fitting laminate as it will not sit right and this can cause laminate to move creating gaps between the boards, however the underlay should not be getting wet, it could be a leak or if any drinks or liquids have been spilt they may go through any gaps in laminate, these caps may not be obvious but if laminate isn't properly connected drinks ect will go through.

When was the floor wet when you put the laminate down or has it recently Started to get wet if so you definitely have a leak coming from somewhere on the floor will have to be removed and check where the leak is coming from always doublecheck and replace it with Standard laminate flooring underlay as you could've spilt drinks which was soaking to the carpet and underlay and could cause movement and cracks in the laminate flooring

You should never use a carpet as underlay for laminate . As for getting wet l would suspect a leak underfloor , need to lift laminate and investigate
