Light fixture works but stops working when replaced with a new fixture
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.32 PM
I have replaced a working pendant light fixture with a new 6 bulb hoop chandelier style fixture and it fails to work when switched on. The light is on a loop and has 3x black neutral wires, 3x red live wires and the earths. I cant understand why the old light works but then when replaced (blue and brown wires from light taken out of the terminal block and new wires inserted, no change to the circuit wiring in the terminal block) the new fixture wont work. Any ideas? UPDATE: Many thanks for your replies. I understand what you're saying about the wires possibly being in the incorrect terminal but I am fairly sure they are correct as when I refit the old fixture and flick the switch, the light comes on as it should. But then do the same with the new one and nothing. I've got an electrician coming in september to do my kitchen so will ask him to take a look then.
