Condensate pipe from combi boiler is discharging over porch roof tiles and has caused staining.
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.31 PM
Instead of running the acidic water from the condensate pipe to a soakaway, it is discharging onto the lead flashing and roof tiles over a small porch. The tiles are grey and made of a heavy, 'concrete type' material. Can anyone tell me how to remove the horrible rusty brown staining please?

My advice would be to try using some heavy duty cleaning products. Poor installation if the condense pipe is just left open above your tiles, call an engineer as soon as possible to rectify and complete the pipe run accordingly either into a drain or soak away.

The condensate pipe should discharge into a small bed of lime, chalk or similar in the ground. Any discolouring of your tiles will continue until this is done. The staining is unlikely to be removed by a cleaning agent. Better to coat it with a layer of yoghurt or dung to help restore the natural weathering. Either that or replace the affected tiles.
