Continuous cracking/blistering paint in bathroom (lime plaster)

The paint in my Mother's bathroom is contiunually cracking/blistering after 3-6 months of application. It is a pre 1930's house & the walls are lime plaster. The walls affected are exterior which have preiously been patched with a modern filler & sealed. Would the problem occur because of condensation/damp or the lime plaster reacting to non breathable paint & the modern filler? Would it be best to remove the original plaster & replaster from scratch?

You can not use modern paints over lime. Lime is breathable and modern paint is not, so find a paint specified for use with lime.

I would recommend to strip off the old rendering and re-plaster either with original sand and cement and skim or plasterboard dot and dab with skim

If it was my property I would remove all the damaged plaster and let the wall breath before re- plastering with hard wall plaster and skim with multi thistle
