Extractor Fan - can I override timer?

I am having an extractor fitted in my bathroom. Ideally I want one that comes on with the light and is on a timer but can be overridden by a separate switch if I want it to go off immediately. I am looking at an LED one with timer but just wanted to check that I can override this if required as don't want it to run for 20 mins each time I use the bathroom but will require it to after taking a shower but leaving the house straight away and therefore wanting it to keep running in my absence then automatically switch off. Thanks

Fit a humidistat fan with timer. Set timer low 2/3 minutes and leave the humidity sensor to vent the shower when used

Just use the triple pole fan isolator to switch it 'OFF' when you don't need it. Normally it would be left switched 'ON' and would operate as per the timer. Simple.

Yes. The electrician will need to adapt the lighting circuit though to isolate the permanent live. This is a standard feature now for bathroom extractor fans but your property may not have one. If you want an earlier turn off of your fan at the moment I propose to install an isolator. This will be a minor installation. I can change the time inside the fan if it is too long. If you have problem with zone I propose low voltage fan (SELV) This will be safe for you. I recommend changing the fan for extractor with humidistat. Your fan will turn on and off depending on the humidity in the bathroom. If you want to influence the fan's working time from the outside, I can recommend a module that you can use to safely change the time, for example Xpelair LV100T 22791AW + Isolator. Regards Slawomir
