How do i remove cement stains from honed Indian sandstone?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.52 PM

Hi We've recently laid an Indian sandstone patio. Unfortunately didn't do the best job of cleaning it up as we went. Consequently we now have a lot of cement stains on it. Already tried soap and water, diluted bleach, diluted down mortar remover (acidic so it left rust marks all over the test patch) and power washing. All the non acidic cleaners I've found seem to be very expensive and generally don't have good reviews. Does anyone have any suggestions of what to try next?

Warm soapy water and a good scrub is the only way to do it. Don’t use acid. Just hard work and elbow grease. One of the reasons for getting a tradesman to lay your patio in the first place is we don’t get mortar on the face of slabs, bricks or any other finished surface.

Yes a good scrub with warm soapy water, and with a hard stiff brush, rinse off with clean water, then leave to dry, if some spots still there, repeat the process, then problem will be gone.
