Removing door between conservatory and kitchen

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.52 PM

Hi, I am considering changing my conservatory so it is classed as just an extra room leading from the kitchen as opposed to an actual conservatory. I would want the roof to be changed so it is properly insulated and the doors between the kitchen and conservatory removed. Would I require building regulations for this? Thanks

If your converting your conservatory roof into a solid roof you absolutely need building regulations for the roof part of the job.... secondly your not supposed to take doors out between house and conservatory as it contravenes building regulations so if you do everything at once the building inspector will not issue a completion certificate for your roof because you have taken doors out... Best to complete roof 1st Get your completion certificate then take out doors... once theY have been out more than 2 years Then building control cannot enforce it

Hi Sophie You would not require building permission/warrant as no extra floor space is being created, if it was an attic dormer or extension larger than 9m2 it would have to be put forward to your local council. There's nothing structural being changed. Hope this helps Regards

yes you would need to get building regs for this as your removing the doors from the house then this makes the conservatory an habitable room which must meet many regulations
