Parquet amtico with border around bay
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.52 PM
Hi, I've just had some parquet Amtico form with a tramline border fitted in my living room which has a typical 1930's smooth curved bay. Overall the floor looks great but in the bay it's been fitted at slight angles, hexagon like, and I've had one or two people saying that it would have been possible to have it in a fully flowing curve which would have improved the look even more. Can anyone verify that this is indeed possible and if so how?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes indeed this is possible all it takes is the know how and the right tools to do a scribe witch is normal with any flooring. Sounds like the fitter either didn't know how to do this or just plan lazy and poor workmanship.

Indeed this curve could have been achieved however it is worth bearing in mind that after cutting the external and internal curves from a straight plank the border would end up being reduced in width, depending on the length of the planks and degree of curvature this could be a minimal difference in width or quite significant. I would’ve cut some examples and asked the customer which one they would prefer before going ahead.

Any type of LVT can be heated and set as a curve to follow contours such as bay windows, curved bottom steps etc how ever a real wood block floor would not be curved and therefore in my opinion the Amtico would look less like a realistic if it was to do so
