My neighbour built their extension without leaving a space

My neighbour did not leave five centimetre space in between the walls of our extension. If I envolve the council what is going to happen?

They should have had a party wall agreement in place before build started

Hi you need to see where your extension is sitting and to see where your neighbour has built his extension.
If his built on the partywall and he has no partywall agreement then your within your rights to take this matter further.
If your extension is built on the partywall and you have concent in writing and the right paperwork to prove this, happy days but if not your neighbour has an argument.
You also need to check when your extension was built as this will also help you.
