Alarm box is it real or fake

Hi I have just brought an house it has a good alarm system. At the back of the house is an old yellow what looks like an alarm box. Can't see any wires going to it. How do I know if it's a fake one of not. Can't get the screw out. Don't want to break it in case it's live. Thanks Thank you for your reply. No sound coming from it.

Hi, Generally the one installed at the back of the house isn't a sounder but more of a sign to people that you have an alarm installed. Makes the install cheaper. If there's no wires then that's a sign that it's just a box...basically if you can't open it to look inside then just set the alarm off and if no sound comes out of it then you have your answer

You could drill out the screw to access it however if there’s no alarm panel in the building it’s unlikely to be in use. It must be an old one too for any modern ones will have LED light on it illuminated to confirm its active.
