Ivy roots to be removed

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.34 PM

I need to get some ivy roots removed from ground level that have lifted small paving stones and caused cracks in a wall (ivy roots growing inside wall) What’s the best way to get them removed and ensure they don’t return so I can renew patio and damage to wall.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi there, It is always best to remove ivy from the root as it will always grow back once cut and potentially grow back stronger. Thanks Greenlife

Hi there, You will need to dig out as much of the root as possible, as ivy will always regenerate growth. Alternatively you can use a weed killer/ poison, if the base of the ivy is substantial enough you could drill small vertical holes to allow for maximum absorption. Be sure to keep pets and young children away if you do use a poison. Hope this helps. Regards Bright Tree Care

I tend to spray with some weed killer leave for a hour or so to give it time to soke in to the root. Then dig out from the root. Reason being is because if you miss any root it will come back. So more of a chance it not doing by just doing the little extra bit.

You can’t always remove the complete root system with ivy so I would suggest spray with round up.That will do the job.
