In my personal option no there not especially considering what you describing sounds like you got a thread bolt and nut securing it into the brickwork,but unfortunately what the building inspector wants he will get every local authority(council) are different to what they wanna see done too. It doesn’t hurt to be extra and have a really nice job done, least you know no matter how strong the wind and storms it is extremely unlikely the roof would be blown off. You will definitely need wall plate straps on any wall plate flat or pitched roof .

Yes all timber framed roofs require strapping down at about one strap per mtr , fixed into the breeze block , these straps need to be 1000 - 1200 mm in length.

Hello Unfortunately just fixing the plate down with screws & resin into the top coarse of blockwork/ brickwork is not an adequate fixing. Wall straps do need to be fitted at the specified spacing allowing for the fixing to spread across the lower coarses. Hope this helps to clarify

Wall plates are necessary of course in pitched and flat roofs. Metal straps secure the timber wall plate to new or existing block/brickwork every 2m with at least 3 fixings to the wall. A flat roof for example a garage built attached to a property will have a timber wall plate fixed to existing with expanding bolts and big washers ,resin isn't always required it depends on the brick your fixing too.joist hangers then carry the joists out to the timber wall plate on the new build sitting on top and screwed , the wall plate then strapped as above.

Unless they have changed the building regs you still need straps to tie roof to wall

Yes all wall Plates need straps if not bolted down if not your roof could blow off

Flat roofs need metal straps screwed to them which run down the brick wall and are to screwed to brickwork
