Problems with new laminate flooring
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.34 PM
Hi I'm having issues with laminate flooring that I've had fitted downstairs in my new build home. The floor is cracking and popping when walked on. I can feel it lifting off the floor in the kitchen too. The fitters never bothered lifting the vinyl and didn't fit underlay in the kitchen, I'm guessing that's why I'm feeling it lift up there. They never left the floor to acclimatise nor did they leave a expansion gaps. I've since had someone put the expansion gaps right but I'm still getting the noise. I'm am just wondering whether they used the right underlay, they used fibre wood underlay on a newly laid concrete subfloor, would this underlay stop the moisture coming from underneath. Anyone got any advise to assist me as this is causing a lot of stress? Thanks. I don't think he checked for moisture. The fitter is acting dumb and says he's never come across this before. It's something I've read since, that new homes can have high humidity. Is fibre wood underlay useless when there's moisture? Could this be fixed by changing the underlay or the laminate gonna be damaged now?
