Honed polished sandstone paving laid upside down by builder, fixed with SBR slurry. Worth re doing?

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.33 PM

New patio laid 3 days ago and covered in plastic due to rain. Today the sheet was removed and it looks like the builder has put most of the sawn and honed sandstone upside down, he fixed with a SBR slurry and sand cement base. I know the SBR bonds very well so will these slabs be damaged if pulled up now and relayed considering they have been covered in a plastic sheet for three days.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

They are ruined mate, if they have had sbr slurry all over the face. Either leave it as it is (if it’s not too horrific) or get you money back off the amateur that laid them. Sorry it’s blunt but that’s just how it is.

I agree with the above, if laid with sbr paste upside down, they are ruined and if they are lifted will need replacing so i would suggest either getting your money back and getting it rectified by someone more experienced

The slabs will most likely be ruined and I would ask who ever laid them to come back and get rid of his shoddy workmanship and ask for a full refund. If no joy take the matter to small claims court with photographic evidence
