Loft Conversion

Short rsj steel beam

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.33 PM

Recently moved into a house which has had a loft conversion consisting of front and rear dormers but no stairs going into it, I believe it was done over 15years ago. Was hoping to fit stairs soon but on closer inspection the steel rsj beam is short of the one chimney by a couple cms, are there any methods to attached the beam to the chimney. I have a structural engineer looking at it next week. Thanks in advance for the advice

You can use a steel shoe chased into the chimney breast to bare the load
