Reducing the level of the garden

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.32 PM

Hi, I am looking to reduce the level of the garden which is higher than the house (garden is approx 12 * 12 metres and about 1m high in front and 1.5-2m at the back). The garden is currently accessible through 6 steps built on the retaining wall . I would like to reduce the height of the garden, level it and bring it in line with the rest of the house. Unfortunately there is no side access to the garden. Wanted to get an idea whether that is possible and how big a job it is likely to be. Thanks!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hy there need a 1 ton digger to dig down Any side access for digger? How many sqm is the area? Oke 144 m2 so thats a huge job. Just the soil is to take away is 1 m one point 2m on back so 1.5 m average which is 216 m3 which is 370 ton soil. 1 load is 20 ton so 19 loads plus the labour to dig that out. Without digger how?

Would designing in raised beds be a possibility ? Reducing the quantity of soil removed and the cost.

The amount of soil to move depends on a) how much higher than the house it is at the front, and b) where the gradient to the back starts. If there's no digger access then we can remove the soil on a conveyor. Happy to quote
