Can a 6th fence be put up in between myself and my neighbor

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.32 PM

Asking on behalf of my mother. So her and her neighbor have side entrances to their homes. They both walk into their own gates and up the path to their front doors which are at the side. The neighbor is turning their house into 2 flats and my mum wants to put a 6ft fence down the middle or atleast half way so she has some privacy is she aloud to do this? Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The gap would have to be a minimum of 2 meters. To insure access. If so yes!

Legally, up to 2 metres down both sides but only 1 metre across the front

Yes of course not a problem I would recommend a 6 foot quality feather edge on a 4 inch gravel board totally acceptable, looks great and lasts. If and when the bottom board rots it can Be replaced cheaply as rails and feather edge boards are above ground and therefore kept dry. Posts can also be replaced as and when required when they eventually rot through at ground level. Think about it and it makes sense! Simon
