Simple underfloor heating query
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.32 PM
Hi, my question is simple. Can I connect new wet underfloor heating pipes in a new extension to my existing microbore pipework ? My existing microbore system works well & has a 10 year old 35kw boiler that is over capacity for the 13 rads I have so the heat output is not a problem. I have a radiator in the current extension (to be demolished) that is in standard size pipework from previous building work, even though the rest of the system is microbore. I am hoping to take the UFH from this spur. Will this work? Thanks for your help, David

In theory it would work but would be very slow flowing. Taking a spur closer off to the boiler on a larger pipe bore would be a better option.

You need to take it from the main flow & return, ie 22mm pipes

I would suggest putting the under part of the heating on its own zone as running it as part of the radiator system will not work correctly. Set up up with it own room stat and zone valve so it can work independently to the radiator part of the system. I would also add this it should be run through a manifold also.
