Hi, i have a screen over the batch which regularly leaks, ive bought new plastic seal to go at the bottom of it, but there is always a little gap a the bottom join for some water to escape. Im so fed up im putting back a curtain rod which I didnt want to do. Ive seen some screens that go over the door that slide and wondered if these are any better, or do these type of over bath always leak ? im worried as under the bath the wall is lave and plaster and I only had this bathroom fitted under 5yrs ago and its been leaking behind. at time of having new bathroom i had to have hall re plastered because it had leaked before. Im tempted to rip it out and put a shower cubicle instead, but guess they also have potential to leak ? any advice welcome please
thank you
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
The screen may have been fitted incorrectly, the tiled wall and bath should be fitted square both horizontally and vertically , however if they are not 100 percent straight you can alter the shower screen that is screwed into the fixed shower bracket by removing the existing covers and screws and altering the vertical alignment of the screen within the bracket so the horizontal section of the screen is level right along the bath edge, and then drill the holes again in the vertical shower bracket and prefix the screws and covers, this should then be ok. If however it still leaks apply some sanitary silicon along the bath line adjacent to the horizontal plastic seal on the outer face of the screen.
PS it's easier than it sounds
HI
this can be a common problem to people who don't know how to fit the seals properly and silicone correctly , its an easy fix there's a way of making the rubber seal fit right then a small amount of correct selling then required , id take it all of and start again to guarantee its fitted correctly

There is a margin of adjustment in the wall profile to allow for the wall not being vertical, the bath should be perfectly level.
With the screen sitting on the bath edge ,take out the screws holding it in the profile , put a small block under the far end of the screen so the glass isn't sitting on the bath edge and fit new screws into the profile. If the screen has been siliconed into the profile use a blade to release it.
Refit the plastic seal, you might need a blob of silicone at the hinge end to make it perfectly watertight.
