Ask a questionDamp Proofing
Damp proofing stops at screed level, one brick below brickwork dpm
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.32 PM
My builder has said he has finished doing my conservatory but I noticed that the screed dpm has been cut off at ground level and not gone vertically up the internal wall of the conservatory, which has been plaster, to meet the damp course layer in the brickwork. Meaning there is one brick exposed without a dpm.

You should have a cavity tray from outer skin that steps 2.25mm to your inner skin of your block work your dpm will be below the concrete and run out under the internal block and concrete will be on top your dpm with the tray level to the hight of your screed inside you should have insulation behind the tray so you dont have a cold spot on that brick your talking about plz message me for details you must have building regs and a plan to look at it will show a drawing on the plan

Part C of the building regs tell you a DPM should be one continuous barrier to the DPC in a solid composition floor. This information is readily available in government documents and all local authorities have information on their own websites. Hope this helps
