Which satinwood should I use on primed skirting
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.32 PM
We’ve bought primed skirting that is about to be fitted and we plan to paint this ourselves. The rest of our house was done with Dulux satinwood, but I’m confused as there are a few different types (oil based / water based) and now I don’t know which to buy and which is best on primed skirts, Dulux once, Dulux quick dry, Dulux trade?? I know we want white satinwood and was swaying towards Dulux, as our whole house was done a few years with Dulux, but have no idea thereafter. Any help is very gratefully received. Thank you

Water based trim paints are far better than oil based paints now.
But you need to be selective about brand etc.
My advice for a top job would be tikkurilla. Use Helmi 30. And although your skirts are primed, coat them up with otex akva first

Oil base paints are hard wearing and applied correctly goes on smooth, minus point is : it can yellow in months !
Water base needs a little extra care when applied for smoothness, and stays white .
In both cases get a good quality product, usually trade paint .

A good trade warer based paint will stay white, look good and be just as tough as an oil paint these days - and better for your health when you are applying it.
