Exterior brick window sills

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.32 PM

I've recently had the front of my house painted, the sills with white exterior masonry paint. I'm noticing some brown discolouring, which is only getting worse. Any idea what might be causing this, and what I can do to prevent it? Many thanks S

It looks like the sills which are normally concrete have become porous .i would suggest a coat of Dulux Stabilising solution is put over them and then the masonry paint a day or so later.

Possibly the seals weren't sanded back properly or the washed down. To be honest normal masonry paint isn't best for sills . Your better to paint those with weather shield gloss paint. Prime and undercoat them first , but it's hard to give you an exact answer with out pictures .
