Bristan wall controlled shower leak
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.12 PM
I have moved into a house with a Bristan shower. This has one large temperature control dial wall mounted above 2 separate controls for body jets and the main shower head. The control for the shower head has a slow leak which runs down the wall. This is not from the shower outlet, but from the actual tap control which controls the power of the main shower. Is there some sort of washer/valve which could need changing. I am confused as to where the water is coming from as this is not an outlet. The leak occurs constantly even when the shower is not on.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It sounds like a seal gone in the control knob. You would need to identify the make and model, maybe you have an instruction Manuel from previous owner. Then you can order a seal kit online or from plumbers merchants.you maybe able to identify it from online pictures of Brittany shower valves.

Hi, yes, looks like a seal/o-ring has worn in the tap control unit. If changing one of the seals it would be wiser to change all the seals because if one has ceased working due to age then other seals will start to deteriorate. You can get seal kits online with instructions on how to install them. It can be done by a non-professional too. If you are unsure of the particular model your Bristan unit is then use https://www.showerdoc.com, send them a picture and they will identify the model and kit to buy. I've used them in the past and they are recommended. Good luck.

It sounds like a seal. Possibly a water pressure issue.
I would check this and speak to Bristan. They will identify the correct shower for you and should be able to diagnose and find a solution.
