Leak from drainage pipe in shower area into my kitchen.. .

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.12 PM

Shower is leaking into my kitchen, only when it's struggling to drain fast enough. Its not over flowing over the tray. When u look into the plug hole it's full of water still and hasn't emptyed even though its leaked. Once the shower is off the leak stops. Its happen 3 times now, however it seems to be once I've used the drain unblocker. Not sure if it's a coincidence or that's what's making it worse.? However the leak is about a meter away from the shower drain pipe..

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, so when your using the shower this is when it’s leaking, this could either be a rubber washer in the shower trap which when you use the shower this will leak until you’ve finished, but if your saying that water is also trapped this could also indicate that there is a blockage somewhere along the waste pipe, so I’d recommend that you replace the rubber washer in the trap, and if it keeps on backing up then there is definitely a blockage. Hope this helps 👍🏻

Agree it is probably the rubber washer. Don't agree regarding water left in the trap, there should be water in the trap to create an air lock, if theres residue water left in tray once shower is off then theres a drain off problem, maybe blocked pipe or bottle blocked, suggest you remove grid in tray and hook out blockage, usually hair thats got congealed soap around it.
