Can i reuse broken rigid insulation in my cold flat roof?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.12 PM

hi there I have had to take out my plaster board and rigid insulation to drill 25mm holes in the nogging to allow aorflow above the insulation. Due to taking out the tightly fitted insulation I have some broken parts. Is ut OK to put this back in and the use a seal vapour barrier? Ps I'm having spot lights fitted , is it ok to make a cut through the insulation for this? I want to prevent any future rot Many thanks

Hi there you not supposed to split the insulation in your roof as this will cause problems long term this should ov been done before work had finished so the it could stop further damage/problems my advice is to start again then fix your lights and this will not cause further problems

It would be Better to use new insulation and vcl to make sure you get the right Uv value etc as you might cause cold spots by using the old insulation when u damage the old stuff taking it out
