3 pin plug socket

Some induction hobs come with a 13A plug but they are capable of being wired to a much more capable supply to work to their full potential. As it appears you have a 'meaty' supply available I would look into this before you effectually de-rate the hobs capabilities by using the 13A plug lead. Either way, you need an electrician as you should not be changing the fixed wiring yourself and the electrician can change the hob to run from the bigger supply making it work better (assuming its that type).

If the hob is connected to an outlet plate, it may be possible to change the plate for a single socket. Then you can plug your new hob in to that. An electrician can do that for you, it should be straightforward.

Hello How may kw is your induction hob as the majority are over 5kw and thy have to be HARD WIRED unless instructed buy the manufacturer. If your new induction hob is over 3kw then it has to be hard wired. if it's a small design of 2 disks only and the consumption is less than 3 kw then the 45amp needs to be reduced to a max 13amp using a 13amp fused switch fed from the cooker outlet point, and a 13amp socket fed from the fused switch. The hob you have is the type that is smart , in the sense not all the rings will be on all the time, because of this you can run it off a socket, all you need to is change your outlet to a socket, the fused down part is in the plug so no need for a spur.

Hi This isnt really something you should do. The maximum terminal capacity of a socket is 6mm so if your cooker is fed by 6mm its possible to replace cooker outlet plate with a single socket. If its 10mm your out of luck

Simply remove plug top and reinstate the new hob just like the old one was connected. If in doubt always call in a fully qualified JIB electrician.
