Recarpetting a furnished home

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.12 PM

I have a fully furnished home with carpets in most rooms. The carpet needs replacing everywhere but not sure how to go about this when there are quite a few items of furniture throughout the property. Could this be a 1 day job or would I have to split this job over a few days on account of the furniture? Also, 1 bedroom has a very large free standing wardrobe. What’s the best approach to this? Would it have to be dismantled? And is it inappropriate to ask the fitter to (at least) dismantle if that’s the right course of action?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The job will probably have to be done over a period of days regarding the furniture and with the wardrobe it can be moved to the other side of the room while the other side gets fitted and vicer versa or if the customer gives the OK to dismantle then that shouldn't be a problem

I would suggest over 2 days if was my job . Clear as much as possible first day and then remaining next day just to allow time to move personal effect/smaller items of furniture Wardrobe would need lifting over carpet or dismantling Would suggest the fitter seeing the wardrobe first Fitting occupied houses with furniture are normal in the trade so we are used to this scenario Hope this helps

No chance of a fitter dismantling furniture, better getting a handyman to do this, Also this means the old carpet won’t be lifted, you will have to let the fitters know this, we can advise you the best place to buy flooring at best price.

Without knowing size of house it's difficult to estimate time . If l was doing it l would ask customer to clear one room , fit that the rotate furniture between rooms . Would not dismantle wardrobe Can cause a lot of issues . House of Fraser charged £18 per room
