Correct to self levelling on concrete floor.

Hi. I’m am looking to laminate floor our dining room floor. The current floor has original Marley tiles underneath. My question is, If I removed these tiles would I then need to apply a DMP before applying levelling compound? If so, could I use a liquid bitumen DPM, prime and then self level or can you not use self levelling compound over a bitumen DPM? Thanks.

My advice would be to use a self levelled screed compound providing your home has sufficient damp proof protection it should be fine

Hi there once you have removed the marley tiles just prime the floor then use a n/a self level screed this screed is good for covering bitumen floors but it must be n/a latex screed being in your dining room a suitable dpm should be in place hope this is of help regards phil

I would use ardex Na directly over the bitumen (see ardex product sheet) and leave to dry before applying a liquid DPM

First question would be about the Marley tiles if they are loose then take them up if not to leave and then because a lot of Marley tiles are asbestos and they recommend to leave down now.if the floor is level you will only have to wash screed over old bitumen if the tiles come up. N/A latex would be best to us as you don’t need to prime.
