How to paint over brightly painted walls with white?

Just wondering what kind of primer/undercoat would be recommended (oil or water based and brand) and how best to tackle it? the colour is a bright turquoise/blue

Just coat in a good brand paint in white emulsion , it will cover don’t use oil based paint

me i always use the neutral colour magnolia ,give walls 2 coats of magnolia matt and your ready to go...dave.

It would be best to use a good quality water based paint like dulux trade, giving it at lease two coats.

Or if you got the money get some zinner cover with that first then coat with what you want , as zinner is a cover stain

Rub down thoroughly first to create a good key, get a good quality high opacity paint “Dulux Supermatt“, thin some (5 parts paint to 1 part water) and apply. Apply a further coat and reassess. Now put a quality vinyl paint over the top.
