Economy 7 water boiler reset

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.51 PM

My economy 7 water boiler has recently just started to intermittently stop working. I reset it, change the temp slightly and it lasts one night, the next night it stops working and needs resetting again. The day booster is fine. The wiring seems fine on visual inspection but something is tripping it or something, what could it be? Thanks. (It's an 80s type insulated tank).

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I reckon the Cylinder is Scaled Up causing nuisance Tripping of the Immersion. Or at least the Immersion is scaled up. May need to investigate issue, change Immersion or and De Scale Cylinder.

As above and it could also be that the main heating element or thermostat is starting to fail or both. I would use the booster for now and get an electrician to do a test on the main element. Unless you have particularly hard water I don't really think it is likely to have scale build-up. That alone would not cause this type of issue.

Could be a number of problems . Scaled up element though I’d go for faulty thermostat or element be my guess or v possibly time clock. Hire a good electrician JIB electrician and they chase it down and replace for you.

My first point of fault finding will be thermostat, as the temperature get to a certain level, the thermostat strip expand to disconnect the electrics, most possibly is during this time earth leakage is incur tripping the electrics
