My neighbours driveway border fell when we done our drive

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.51 PM

Hi, we've just started our driveway and took away our grass which was running parallel to my neighbours drive so we could have a bigger drive, all part of our land. When the guys took the grass away my neighbours border on her monoblock drive started to fall, their was no concrete supporting her border, it seems it was really just leaning on our grass. Are we at fault for it moving ? I would presume her drive should be able to be static without depending on land that isn't hers ? The guys doing our drive are going to put concrete round our drive and said they would try their best to push my neighbours border back but worried about neighbour drama!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

No it should have been supported properly in the first place.Either with a concrete or timer edging,or very least haunched with concrete.

Yes it should have been done properly but to keep them happy put them back as best you can or maybe speak to your next door and show them and maybe they will offer to help pay if not just do it to keep the peace I would put them back for nothing if i was doing the job

If you move your land only and never went over neighbours boundary line and the neighbours bricks are not secured properly and is falling over your boundary line the neighbour has responsibility to secure the bricks from falling over onto your land. But the best advice I can give you is to fix the bricks that is loose and work with your neighbour's because boundary's are a very complex matter.

Take pictures of the shoddy workmanship that has been done. They should of left a gap and concreted it properly as a soil, grass butted up to it is not a substantial finish and would, could erode over time.
