Toilet Seat Tightening
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.51 PM
I have metal caps covering the screws on my toilet seat and have no idea how to remove them. I'm trying to tighten the seat but can't access the caps. This is quite an old style seat and doesn't have the button that the newer seats have. Unfortunately I can't seem to upload images! Any help? Thanks
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi guys
It’s either the chrome cover plates on the top that will pull up to reveal the screws
Or you will need to get your hand round the back to the nuts on the under side

Normally the metal caps should come off. Maybe use a little flat head screwdriver to try and prize it’s upwards so then you can get to the screws. As it’s old it could be quiet stuff. Hard to answer really without seeing the design. I hope this helps

The caps are just a covers for the brackets, the nuts to tighten the seat will be underneath the toilet pan, sometimes wing-nuts sometimes ordinary nuts, always awkward to get to unfortunately.
