I'm having an extension built and want a phone line socket so i can have sky multi room. could this be fed off an upstairs phoneline socket from my bedroom and dropped down and through. or would a phoneline Extender be best from Maplins? Your thoghts please. Note: If phone line extension can be fitted can the wiring not be hidden behind the wall then into the extension which can be hidden before the plaster?

A good electrician who knows how the UK phone system works uisng UTP cable should have no problem adding an extension for you, as its a sdtraightforward job. If you want the new telphone point flush and the wiring all chased in and then plastered over then, yes thats possible, but the job will cost significantly more.

Yes if the electrician has had experience its very easy , if he hasnt its still quite straight forward , when you purchase the secondary bt socket availiable from all wholesalers or B&Q it will usually have instructions with it , you just need to run a 3 pair telephone cable or cat 5 from your upstairs bt socket to your extension and follow the instructions

Not all electricians do telephone cabling but those that can would quite easy extend a phone line, all they will need to do is extend from the last extension point or from the master NTE, remember to put a filter on it. most cases it will be neatly stapled around the skirting/door frames if extension is complete. please ensure installer uses CW 1308 4 pair cable for this task Cat5e cable is not the correct cable for the job due to gauge of the copper in the cores and will look awful when it is stapled around the house due to its thickness and colour!
