Customer wants refund on laminate flooring job

Anonymous user 6 July 2020 - 10.55 PM

Just wondering where I stand here. I did a flooring job about a month ago, checked with the customer that they were happy, got paid and left. A week later they call to say that a board has come loose, fine, it happens. I go back to fix it (think this may have been from dragging heavy furniture over it). When I arrive to fix it there are a few other things such as chips on some of the edges, which I obviously fix (again this looks like it was from them moving the furniture back in to the room). Checked again that they were happy, they were, I leave. I have just received a message from said customer saying that they want a refund due to there still being problems. I checked every single join and every single board before I left the second time, also have pictures of the install. The customer also checked and said they were happy. Where do I stand? Thanks in advance

You honoured your contract by doing the job and them writing it off you then returned to put right problem which they equally oked so the only thing I can say is the boards are at fault or the laminate has been laid in the same direction as the sub floor planks which can cause movement.

Not nice people that try those tricks.. you gave them a price, they accepted the quote, work was completed and inspected by both and payment was made.... now remarkably they want the floor and also all their money back aswell.... sounds like their playing the game... seen it many times... good luck

No way should they have a full refund worse case scenario give them the labour cost back but keep money for materials. If they have said there happy with the job then that in the flooring business is like them signing the job off. They are clearly not happy due to them ruining the laminate and trying to pull a fast 1. If you take pictures of the flooring being chipped and damaged after you completed the job then you dont have to do anything it won't stand up in a smalls claim court. Bottom line is, if a customer bought a car from a garage and then they scratch it they can't bring the car back and say they want there money back.
