Repair or replace boiler?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.33 PM

Hello, The mainboard and ignition board of my boiler (ideal mini S24) have broken. My boiler is about 14 years old. I am considering to either repair the damage or to replace the boiler. My boiler is located in a storage cupboard in the middle of my flat and the flues are in the voids so I have understood a replacement would also need pipework. Given the age and model of the boiler, what would you recommend? Repairing it or replacing it? Many thanks

I think its totally down to finances and the position you are in. On one hand, you could repair it for a couple of hundred pounds and keep it running. It is still possible to get the spare parts for your boiler, but they will get more expensive as the stockists run low. On the other hand, A new boiler and running a new flue, (with the possible expense of a joiner for the void too) will be expensive, but you will save some money on your running costs, and possibly have a long manufacturers warranty (some are offering 10 and even 12 years warranty)
