Builders finish - minimal prep and put paint on quick and cheap so it stays there. Highest standard - appropriate prep, put quality paint on and take time do do it right so it stays there and actually looks good when you get close.

The high standard finish of painting works is the very good preparation of all details such as straight lines, all corners on the molding joints (skerting board or coving ) should be sharp and very clearly visible) all surfaces must be smooth and flat after painting. The builders finish is characterized by practically minimal preparation just painting

A builders finish can be easy on the eye, but a high standard finish can only be achieved by a first class tradesmen. Sharp lines and smooth surfaces.
