Boiler gas isolation
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.33 PM
Can anyone tell me if a boiler fitted in my loft requires a seperate gas isolation valve after the main shut off valve. Also if this is the case how long as this been law? Thanks
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Gas, water, and electrical isolation points should be provided outside of the roof space so boiler can be isolated without gaining access to roof space

Hi,
Emergency Control Valve (ECV) is the one before the gas meter and this one shut the gas for all the property.
The isolation valve for particular appliance is for service/repair. In case of your boiler in the loft the gas isolation valve should be located on the boiler where gas enters the boiler.
This valve comes with the boiler normally and you don’t need one.
Normally all the boilers have one, but if yours doesn’t have one than you need to fit one.
Thanks

Exactly as above, the ecv at the meter controls the house, and every gas appliance in it. Every appliance within should have an accessible shut off located at the appliance!

He will need an additional emergency control valve-AECV next to the boiler
