Gas Works

reroute gas supply from combi boiler to gas fire and cooker

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.33 PM

Hi, From my gas meter, I have a gas supply pipe that branches off in two. The first branch goes down into my cellar and to one of the downstairs gas fires and from here it then goes to the rest of the house. The second branch of the gas supply pipe goes around the outside of my house and into my kitchen where there is a combi boiler. I want to totally remove the gas supply coming into my cellar. The only gas appliances I will have left will be a gas fire and gas cooker which will also be located in the kitchen along with the combi boiler. Will it be possible to branch off the gas supply pipe going to the combi boiler to the gas fire and gas cooker in my kitchen? Thanks

Hi, I can help with the calculations but would need a bit more information, it's possible to run the 3 appliances off one supply but it depends on the pipe sizing, the length of the run and how many bends there are in the run. Would need the Kw output for all 3 appliances, how long the run is from the meter, the size of the pipe(I'm assuming it's 22mm from the meter) and how many 90 degree bends are in the run. It's then possible to calculate the pressure drop. Let me know, Regards Steve

The answer to your question is yes but the pipe may have to be resized because of the extra appliances it is supplying.

The pipe work may need resising but a thorough inspection prior to any work reguarding pipe size calculations and the KW output of the appliences would need to be done.
