Painting a plaster walk/cracks and angle beading showing through

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.33 PM

Hi, I’ve just started doing a tv feature wall where my tv and fireplace will be placed inside this wall. I’ve taped, filled and sanded the joints and screws and added angle beading at the corners. However I didn’t know I had to use a primer and proceeded to pai t straight on it. The problem is cracks and bumps are showing through despite sanding. Also the metal angle beading is also showing. I’ve seen on my builder to use a stain block. The question is, shall I now proceed to sand all those bumps and fill some of those cracks first then prime and then stain block and paint again or how should I proceed? Please be specific as I’m not at all knowledgeable.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

a feature wall will usually be of plaster board construction, if this is your case scrim cloth all joints and bad cracks then bond with pva and reskim for a perfect finish. if you have an old part of a wall showing and the surface is rough i would dot a dab a plaster board onto the area giving you a smoth surface to work with, then repeat above......DAVE.

I would seal with a thin coat of pliolite resin as I have found it the toughest and when dry you can emulsion paint over it.
