Definitely Prime I would not use MDF in a shed it’s like a big sponge with dampness

Hello. To paint the inside of the shed walls and ceiling; prime all surfaces with Zinnser "bullseye 1-2-3". Then finish with 2 coats eggshell (solvent or waterborne, depending on how soon you want to start using it). Bear in mind you'll need to use damp resistant MDF (the green one). Terry Lewis

Yes of course you need a primer, you always need a primer with bare wood

I would definitely suggest using a water based primer, followed by a light sanding, before applying your eggshell paint.

Always prime fresh wood in all circumstances if you are putting a finishing coat on and use a undercoat !! for example a satin finish or a gloss finish , if you’re using MDF Also use a primer too so that it is seals the surface ready for your final coat , and always wear a mask 😷 if you are sanding MDF .
