Vinyl planks over tiled floor with underfloor heating
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.33 PM
Hi, In my upstairs bathroom, ensuite and downstairs WC I have tiled floors. They're ugly and I want to cover them with new flooring - likely to be vinyl floor planks. I think I already know the answer to this but want to check... 1. can this be done without any negative impact to the UFH? 2. can I use the vinyl 'peel and stick' planks or will the heat impact the adhesive? 3. would floating vinyl be better? Thanks, James

LVT flooring would be better but you would have to fit a suitable LVT underlay.

Amtico do a great Click Smart system with an attached underlay with no adhesive needed but you will need to turn off your underfloor heating first and when it is cool you may now lay your flooring and then gradually turn on your heating and slowly increase the heating by 1 degree per day until you reach your optimum heating level.
It is important to do it this way or your vinyl may warp.
