Bathroom Fitting

Mira electric shower won't switch off

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.33 PM

My electric shower was fitted in 2012. Never had a proboem with it until this morning when the switch on the unit didnt appear to work. I had to get out of the shower to pull the electric cord to get it to switch off. A while later, to test it, I switched the shower back on and it seemed to work but then, again, the water kept running. I eventually got it to stop. Google tells me it might be the solenoid. I dont know if I need to call a plumber or an electrician after reading the queries here. I also dont know where the isolator switch is for water supply to the shower (mains water won't stop water flow from the tank to the shower presumably) should I need to switch it all off.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Suggest you put in a new shower . You have had 8 years use and you have done well. Very few plumbers are going to want to execute a repair and frankly it is a waste of money. Bill.

It COULD be the solenoid but to be honest your better to just buy a new shower

I would agree with the others that have commented on this post. showers are very cheap these days and plumbers and electricians can fit these. also it might be worth getting your shower circuit fully tested too
