Engineered wood laying ontop of tiles and solid wood floor

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.33 PM

Would you recommend I remove the wood and tiles and go to floorboards before laying or if the floor and tiles are in good condition then to lay new engineered wood flooring on top?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Depends on the tiles . And the profile as it runs between rooms .if all of this is ok . Then I would pour a thin screed if self leveling compound over the tiles then lay the floor However if you have the time . Go back to the original floor level and clean it well and then lay . I

When installing a new floor . For best possible fitting always start from a good level and smooth substrate . Ie remove any existing flooring and either ply or smoothing compound.

Levels are very important, ie leading into next room, health and safety issues eg trip hassard. If so remove flooring, and leave floor "level" to next room? If floor you are working at is lower certainly floor on top, providing you have a solid level base to work on, and if not remove and rise up to suit level for new floor to be running in level to next room.?
