Damp Proofing

What is the best coating to prevent condensation and mould from concrete walls

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.31 PM

Got a better view of the problem. What is the best solution to eliminate and prevent condensation and black mould in flat? Will putting up an extractor fan in each room help? Should i consider permaguard paint? If extractor fan is an option then what type of extractor fan should be put in, considering the winters in mind.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Injecting, membranes etc will not solve the issues. Fit a Nuaire Flatmaster and this will solve the issues for you. I've fitted approx 60 of these and never had an issue. Always work wonders If you insulate some of the walls the moisture will condensate on the colder walls.

I’d suggest to Dig up the old concrete ceiling from above or drill deep enough holes into the concrete to damp proof , install a new damp proof membrane and lap up edges before replacing the concrete slab or you could fully isolate the dampness in the floor using a surface Damp Proof Membrane dpm for short.

if the damp is in the flooring you could isolate these from the walls and make sure no connection is made and ventilate with a fan if possible and use a warm wall paint from someone like pam ties to stop the condensation issue

Possibly without viewing I would insulate the walls internally with insulation plasterboard And plaster. The walls are that cold in winter due to being concrete the warm moist air will turn into condemnation.
