ikea service void query!

Hello, I have a question about the dreaded Ikea kitchen service void! I live in flat in a converted listed building and am not allowed to remove the original wood and plaster huge skirting boards (I wouldn't want to anyway!) so, to accommodate this skirting the kitchen base units will be butted up against the skirting but with them being quite deep (5cm deep x 35cm high) there will be a 5cm gap from 35cm up from the back of the base unit. Will this space be sufficient to be used as a service void? the only appliances along this stretch will be an electric oven and a fridge. I do hope this makes sense and would really appreciate any opinions/advice! thanks

Hi there, yes that gap would be fine. Normal units that have a service gap at the back is roughly about that size. Most times that gap is only needed if a sink waste is at the back. So you'll be fine. Hope that helps

Original answer may be right but if I understand your question correctly I would suggest you check the depth of you fridge and cooker as some cookers especially go past the cut out space and only leave a small space between wall and appliance

Hi, 5cm gap be fine for your electrics. You will need to pack out wall with 3" x 2" or 4" x 2" to put your hanging rail to. If the appliances are from IKEA they will fit. However, you will need a custom made worktop to fit back to wall. In theory IKEA worktop are standard 635mm plus your 50mm (5cm) gap = worktop depth of 685mm.

The answer is yes but you will need a 5 cm deeper worktop plus if is any cover panels showing at the end of run. Hope this will help a wee bit more.
