No cold water in bathroom and low pressure

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.31 PM

We are unable to get any cold water in our bathroom. Both the sink and bath taps only run hot or (very occasionally) warm - but never cold. The pressure is also terrible! We do get hot and cold water as normal in the kitchen. Edit - we've had the pressure fixed but the temperature is still an issue. We have a cold water tank (top) and a hot water cycliner (below the cold water tank) both in a cupboard next to the bathroom - it's a small 1 bed flat. The cold water tank was 'fixed' and was cold to the touch yesterday but its back to boiling hot today. Any advice on what the problem could be would be greatly appreciated.

Just so i get this right, you are getting hot/warm water out of your cold tap?. If this is what's happening and taking into account you have had the tank replaced, i would say there is a problem with your cylinder, possible the coil gone so is venting into the tank. Are you noticing any dirty water coming from the cold tap?. Do you have heating/radiators at the property.

Sounds to me like an air lock. Also the cold water storage may feed other taps ? This job definitely needs a professional to diagnose. Too many scenarios to take a guess at.

The cold water storage tank should never be Hot only the cylinder gets hot, as for the work you have had done, on the cylinder, it appears someone has Accidentally connect to hot pipe out of the cylinder to storage tank, and the sink in kitchen will be coming off the mains before going to the tank that is why you get cold water..
