Mains water pressure

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.31 PM

is it possible to reduce the pressure coming into your house from feeding forward to appliances and bathroom etc. Had a leak earlier where the pressure overcame the ball valve in the cistern. Conscious that my new bathroom installation is a concealed cistern.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

you can install a pressure reducing valve on incoming main, your ball valve had probably developed a fault ie perished washer, have your incoming main pressure checked.

The new cistern/float valves have a little cone pressure reducer in the bottom of the water inlet Which should of been left in if the pressure is high. You can also shut the service valve a little to reduce the pressure To the system.

See if you half close your mains stop valve at point of entry to the house it will reduce the pressure.
