We need these moving due to building an extension, does this have to be done by your energy Provider

Yes all meters have to be moved by suppliers or subcontractor working for supplier as these are responible for the meter and the incoming gas supply including ECV

You should ask national grid as they are the only company can carry out these work. Unless you just want move the meter to different location but leave ecv same place this can be carried out by any gas safe engineer subject they are qualified .
