How to paint a wooden bannister and spindles

It depends what wood the banister is made of for what type of paint. I would suggest priming the bare wood with Zinsser B-I-N. This is shellac based and will seal hardwood to prevent bleed through or if it is pine it will prevent any knots from bleeding through. I would then put on a coat of white acrylic undercoat followed by at least two coats of white acrylic eggshell. I know you want a matt finish but a matt finish is really not viable and will not last, especially on a high traffic area like a hallway and stair. Eggshell has a relatively low sheen but can easily be wiped clean. If you have gone to the extent of sanding it all back to bare wood then I would stay away from white oil based products as they WILL yellow, it is unavoidable. If you use an acrylic/water based product it will not yellow and will stay white for years to come.

Hi best Paint it Dulax White for woodwork but there is 2 way off paint oil base and water base if you have kids is beter use water base paint us oil base is smell bad and also will be dry after 24 hours so i recommend use water base paint you will be need painting first in undercoat minimum one coat and then 2 coat of final paint after undercoat you will be need sanding a bit Preparing for last coat to make smooth finished thanks Regards Roman
