Plastering & Rendering

how do i reseal a window if the external wall has fibreglass & cement rendering

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.11 PM

I have a window that is leaking in water when it rains badly. I had the external wall rendered with fibreglass rendering in the late 90's, this was put on top of cement rendering. The window was put in prior to the fibreglass rendering. How do I resolve this. thanks.

By the sounds of it the wall needs to be stripped and re-plastered Swales properly with water proof plaster, maybe just around the window but would not advise Until viewing it. no amount of (cleaning and silicone will work that sounds like bad advice)

First of all check to see if any roof tiles are damaged as this is a common problem for water leaking down the cavity and through the inside of the window. If ok then the outside area around the window would probably need to be re rendered, sealed inside and out again.
